In may case in CYGWIN, I can access my
printers with no problem.
cat something >Lpt1 (or >PRN) works.
a2ps do produce proper PostScript, but does not
see the printer, not even when explicitly requested:

$ a2ps -P Lpt1 d:\FRED.cpp [d:FRED.cpp (C++): 2 pages on 1 sheet] lpr: can't open 'Lpt1' for writing lpr: The printer name is invalid. a2ps: received signal 13: Broken pipe

$ I would like to make it work since I need to
invoke a2ps from my UltraEdit editor.
