FreeBSD: probably same as Linux. I didn't check what the newest
version is, but the (incompatibility) cutoff seems to be automake <=
1.4 vs > 1.4, and autoconf <= 2.1.3 vs > 2.1.3. FreeBSD by default
installs the newer versions without an explicit version number, and
the old versions for backwards compatibility as automake14, autconf213
etc., see the conditionals in avr-libc's reconf script.
If you think it's time to start converting the infrastructure, it's
merely up to you: i don't have much clues about all these tools anyway.
