January is fine with me. I also think that we should take the our time
to get the new patches right.
However, I think that you are underestimating the autodetect-patch.
The patch from Michael is only a proof-of-concept. There are quite
some pitfalls for supporting it on all programmers.
IMHO the need for autodection is not that big. So, we should take more
time to ensure that it is done right-first-time. I would hate to see
people complaining about problems, instead of loving our latest
achievments ;-)
