Follow-up Comment #1:
I'm not sure whether this is the right way to go, as you
would arbitrarily depend on a single magic name only.
What about TERM=unknown, or TERM=network?
IMHO, if at all, we should then correctly link against
libtermcap, see whether the "cr" capability is available,
and turn it off if it isn't. OTOH, that's a lot of overhead
compared to just using -q -- just MHO.
Please discuss that on the avrdude-dev mailinglist to see
how the other developers think about that.
