You could try coming up with a patch.
Personally, I avoid Xmegas like the plague, as I cannot debug them.
Information about debugging them is kept secret by Atmel -- even at
the JTAG ICE level, i.e. the level where it is documented for normal
AT90/ATtiny/ATmega devices in appnote AVR067.
Since I cannot debug them, I rather stay away. Should I need a more
powerful controller than ATmega device, I'm leaning towards some ARM
device. At least, their debugging interface is documented. ;-)
