Wonderful - thanks for the fix! BTW it seems on some Linux systems the issue
can appear - at least for me in a VM with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I was seeing the
endless errors. On my real Linux computer (FC19) the issue doesn't appear. In
both cases I was just installing avrdude etc from repositories, so I think it
was different versions, probably different versions of libusb too.
But yes it seems Linux tends to work a lot better than Windows on average,
since Windows always fails! Oh well...

While I still believe it is only masking a more severe issue buried deep below,
I turned usbdev_drain() into a dummy as I think it serves no useful purpose
(other than triggering the issue buried deep below ;-).
