Is that separation of X11 stuff in the current build-improvements
branch? (I could use that on some of the SourceForge compile farm
machines.)

I would think that that main reason for using cygwin would be
because you want X11 and pseudo terminals. No? But under native
Windows this separation is necessary.

Ok, lets lighten-up. I know I probably deserved that considering
my other thread. Peace. :-)
I am very happy that you are serious about building Axiom on
Windows and I will help however I can. A new version for Windows
is badly needed. Later today I will re-verify the my build of
gcl-2.6.8pre under Windows and let you know.
Building on cygwin is definitely an option if we want to get the
full functionality of Axiom as it exists on Linux, but it is
important to keep in mind that *most* Windows users are very
resistant to installing cygwin and even more negative about using
X11 applications under Windows because the look and feel is so
different. So I think we want at least AXIOMsys to run natively
without cygwin or the cygwin libraries.

Bill Page.
