I fully agree with you - grep was the first thing coming to my mind when
I read the first few lines of your post. A configure option
'--without-grep' and later a fallback may be nice, though. I cannot think
of a UNIX system without grep, but I can think of lots of systems where
grep is not as functional as GNU grep. We should therefore make careful
use of GNU grep's capabilities and check with other greps in regards of
output format and functionality. The 'grep' and 'sed' programs should
therefore be configurable at runtime. For the expand/collapse
functionality there should be a GtkTreeView of course.
