Follow-up Comment #3, bug #27925 (project bibledit):

Since it happens on Windows also, then we can't blame Ubuntu for it. I
notices in the code that only one paste command is given, and at times it
pastes texts once, at other times it does it twice. Very strange. Let's blame
the Gtk libraries...
