make: non-lvalue in unary `&', on redhat 7.0

I can't compile 3.2.1 or 3.2.91 on my redhat 7.0 system. At least the
first worked on my 6.2 system, and I formated the partitions before
upgrading in order to resize them, so there's nothing old lying around
conflicting and i installed *everything*, but now I get:

[snip]

PannedGE.C: In function `void __static_initialization_and_destruction_0
(int, int)':
PannedGE.C:88: non-lvalue in unary `&'
make[1]: *** [PannedGE.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/ddd-3.2.1/ddd'
make: *** [all] Error 1

Is this a gcc-2.96/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 issue?
