ddd GUI Bug

 I recently upgraded my install of 'ddd' and it is no longer functional.

When first launched the 'Tip of the Day' dialog box appears.  I am able 
to click on the buttons in the dialog box and they are functional.  

Once the dialog box is closed and I try to utilize the main 'ddd' GUI 
and I cannot select any of the pull-down menus.  They behave as if they 
are desensitized by they do not  appear desensitize ( they are not 
greyed out).  At this point the only option is to close the window.

I have found if I launch 'ddd' with with the name of the program I wish 
to debug the main window along with the debug helper dialog box appears 
(the one the has commands like run, single step ....).  I can interact 
with the commands in this dialog box.  If I close this dialog box I can 
then select any of the pull-down menu choices at  the top of the main 
'ddd' GUI.  After One selection from one of these pull-down menus I can 
no longer interact with the GUI and the only choice is to close the window.

I am running Mandrake 9.2  I have tried release 3.3.8, 3.3.7, 3.3.1. and 
3.2.1 and all behave in a similar manner.  I believe my previous 
installation od 'ddd' that was fully functional was 3.3.1.

Any ideas as to the problem would be greatly appreciated.
