You once more completely off. The NSS interface is a programmer's
interface since people can write their own NSS modules. Therefore it
has to be documented there.

And I've given you an answer. Can't you read? Other interfaces with
the same problematic which *are* standardized use the interface we
use. If the Solaris guys wouldn't have to worry about backward
compatibility they would do it the same way.
