Trouble with Linuxthreads

Help me, I can't "make" GLIBC 2.2.3 with the "Linuxthreads" support !

My config :
    Computer : i586
    Make version > 3.79
    GCC version > 2.95
    Distrib. : Mandrake 7.2

I get this error in the file
"/path/to/glibc/linuxthreads/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/sigthread.h"
at line 36 :
Parse error before "__thread".

Here's the complete line :

extern int pthread_kill (pthread_t __thread, int __signo) __THROW;

What's the problem ?
Do I have to install a newer GCC ? I tried but GCC 3.0 seems to need
GLIB 2 (libc.so.6)...
