Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only supported platforms for glibc
at present are HURD and Linux.. Those errors (at least the "-- not
recognized parameter" error) look like the configure script is not
compatible with AIX's ld.

Among other things, this suggests that the glibc configure script is
expected a GNU ld only.. which suggests once again it only works on GNU
platforms :/.
