PowerPC BeOS & glibc

Hi,

I would like to (ultimately) be able to use gcc on PowerPC BeOS, to
replace the VERY old Metrowerks compiler, etc.  It seems like the
PowerPC architecture is (or at least was) supported, so likely it is
the BeOS system part that needs the most work.  Has anyone attempted to
port glibc or gcc to this platform?  Any recommendations?
