gettext problem - translation fails

Hi all,

I'm having some problems with gettext and apache+php. The problem
starts when I update .mo files some PHP programs are using. Sometimes
(not everytime) gettext starts failing to traslate strings. When this
starts, gettext will translate about 1/4 of pages generated from PHP.

As apache is a server daemon, .mo file change is being done at runtime.

I've talked to PHP i18n guys and they say that it seems to be a gettext
problem.

What it sounds most strange to me is that translation doesn't fail
always, BUT failure or not failure is constant in each page generation
of PHP, i.e. all strings are translated or not translated. This makes me
think that some of the instances of apache have a working gettext, and
some others do not (I can't tell you if instances are threads or
processes because I just don't know. Apache version is 1.3.27 with
default debian woody config).

Just as an additional note, date generation using locales continues to
work perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated. Just let me know if you need more info,
glibc version is 2.2.5-11.2.

BTW, this is happening in various systems, our production server is a
Red Hat and has the very same problem. You can check the problem in the
following url: http://www.euskal.org/euskal69, note "Latest news" and
"Last update" strings.

Thanks a lot!
