Sorry for the misdirect of this email.
This man page problem was document as bug 81359.
The bug was closed with a conclusion of "[The] manual pages
are hopelessly outdated [ - use info instead]".

Glibc doesn't have man pages, only the info manual which is
correct. Report it to the maintainer of the manpages. The manual pages
are outdated or wrong on more issues than this, I recommend using the
glibc manual.
