glibc port for OS X |

I'd like to obtain or build glibc for OS X (10.2.8).
Since I haven't found any binary copies, I suspect
I'll have to build glibc. However, I get the
following error messages whenever I try to build
glibc:
[peter:~/_del/1/build-glibc] dp2%
../glibc-2.3.5/configure |& tee configure.log
checking build system type... powerpc-apple-darwin6.8
checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin6.8
*** The GNU C library is currently not available for
this platform.
*** So far nobody cared to port it and if there is no
volunteer it
*** might never happen. So, if you have interest to
see glibc on
*** this platform visit
*** http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/porting.html
*** and join the group of porters
[peter:~/_del/1/build-glibc]
Upon further investigation, I found the following
statement:
"Since no one has volunteered to test and fix these
configurations, they are not supported at the moment.
They probably don't compile; they definitely don't
work anymore. Porting the library is not hard. If you
are interested in doing a port, please contact the
glibc maintainers by sending electronic mail to
address@hidden"
I'd really like to get this to work, and if that means
I need to port glibc to OS X, then so be it. So, what
do I need to do to obtain a port of or to port glibc
for OS X (10.2.8)? Additionally, later on, assuming
that I get through through this process with a minimal
amount of battle scars, I could probably also test the
port in OS X (10.4--on another machine).
