Check whether you've got a CC environment variable set, and if so then
try unsetting it (and have /usr/local/bin in the PATH if necessary to
get gcc).
A slight misfeature of the gmp 3.1 and 3.1.1 configure is that if CC
is set then CFLAGS doesn't get a good default setting.
