Below is a forward of a problem(?) that I have noticed with GMP-4.0.

Scott Bucholtz <address@hidden> writes:
I installed it into prefix /usr/local (/usr/local/lib is in my ld.so.conf
file) and (after a make install and ldconfig):
guacamole:~/gmp/gmp-4.0# ldconfig -v | grep gmp
libgmp.so.3 => libgmp.so.3.2.0
Before installing this version, doing the above command returned:
libgmp.so.3 => libgmp.so.3.1.1
I'm confused.
Yes, and I can only partially unconfuse you.
It is a mistake to assume that shared library name = release
denotation. It is not.
Perhaps Kevin can give a better answer. (Asking questions
to address@hidden might be a better idea in general.)
