Problems configuring gmp-4.0.1 on Linux Mandrake 7.2

I'm perplexed.  I've compiled a great bit of software on TWO (2) Linux
Mandrake 7.2 servers, but I've NEVER experienced results like this
before.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
