problems on building GMP library

I have some problems on building GMP library on MS-DOS
Opereating System. 
I only could find these instructions to
install GMP under DOS, in the manual, and nothing
more.

" Non-Unix Systems 
configure requires various Unix-like tools. On an
MS-DOS system Cygwin, DJGPP or MINGW can be used. See 
http://www.cygnus.com/cygwin
http://www.delorie.com/djgpp
http://www.mingw.org "

I got the djgpp compiler and tried all the way to
compile the library, but it was unsucessfull. (by the
way the compiler worked ok with some "Hello World "
test programs I made)
How should I procced to build the GMP library under
DOS ?
