OK. What about this for the second paragraph:

Yet, with Adobe phasing out its Flash player, Gnash may soon become the
(safest / most effective ?) software to play the SWF format. This is why
we would very much like to keep this project alive. Any financial
support that would enable us to resume development and achieve complete
compatibility with SWF would be greatly appreciated. If you are willing
to help us, please contact ***."

A silly question from a non-developer: why not try to fuse Gnash and
Lightspark?
