Unfortunately, when you run without "make install", data-directory is set to emacs/etc/ whereas the emacs.pdmp resides in emacs/src/. For the time being, I've created a symlink emacs/etc/emacs.pdmp -> emacs/src/emacs.pdmp. Bye, Tassilo
