Hi Robert,
when aclocal is being run, it must be run with the following options, 
"-I./contrib/m4" so that it finds those macros. I'm suprised that you 
are getting those errors, if this is cvs, have you run ./autogen.sh and 
if this is not cvs, could you run that and try to compile again? Thanks!
