Apologies to Nicolás if I sent directly to him.

Thanks Nicolás, Koh Lin and, of course, Giuseppe, for the replies.

I understand your point.

First, I like very much IceCat, mostly because it is free software and like and
always try to use free software, this is the reason I put IceCat as my first
browser of choice. Unfortunately, it is not always possible.

Sometime ago, I tried open JDK, had to switch back to the other one, due to
compatibility problems, imposed by some sites I have to use and software makers.

The same happened with Gnash. My wife's son was graduating abroad, she wanted
to watch, even invited friends and family. And I had to use Flash.

First conclusion: unfortunately, not everybody can use only free software.

Today, .deb IceCat 6.0.1 was released, finally, and was upgraded from 5.0.1.
One machine runnig {*}buntu I have could not run it, due to the Flash
incompatibility, and I do not know how to change about:config from command
line, to correct it. Fortunately, I used rsync to upgrade .gnuzilla folder from
another machine where I had fixed before.

Some decades ago (before the PC era), when I decided to systematically start
learning programming, one principle of good programming (third rule, I believe)
was that a program should be idiot user proof.

If this is still the case, I do not know, but IceCat, this great software, IMHO
should conform with this rule, in order to get more users to free software
effort and not discourage those who already use it and use them.

We are almost there. I hope not needing closed source software in the near
future.

If you do not agree with me, I respect, and apologize for any inconvenience.

[]s,
Fernando
