POSIX says it affects [[=a=]b] and [[.ch.]].
Perhaps someone can give them a try, to see whether that works?
At least, it's *supposed* to work.... It requires a locale that
has nontrivial equivalence classes and collating symbols, to check.
If it works, then we can document it; if not, then we can document
*that*.
