Only the second part of the sentence refers to exporting. The current
wording is the following, note the punctuation used:

    Text in the code and verbatim string is not processed for Org mode
    specific syntax; it is exported verbatim.

> it is in the markup section.

The Markup section is a different section than Exporting.

Feel free to provide a better wording. Although, I find the current one
clear enough.
