Good point: fluidsynth should support manipulating generators via NRPN:

Never used it myself, however AFAIK it also only provides a relative control.
Although fluidsynth has an internal flag that would allow an absolute control,
this is the feature in question which can only be triggered via
fluid_synth_set_gen2() which was never completed though.
