I was talking about left-click to open the directory, right-click 
will bring up the context menu as usual, and shift-click 
marks. Am i missing something ?

will mark the whole list inbetween,
where shift-leftclick marks single ones.

Why do you think this is a problem for drag&drop ?

Anyway, lokk how nautilus does it, there seems to be a way 
it can work.
