Hello everybody,
In continuance with the effort of creating local Fedora repositories on the
institute LAN, I am glad to announce the mirror of the 'updates' repository
for Fedora Core 6. Due to severe bandwidth and connectivity problems over the
last few days, it is taking an abnormal amount of time to keep the mirror
updated. Thus right now we only have it for i386, and not for x86_64.
Nevertheless, usable and will enable you to get very fast updates than you
would have otherwise got.
Here is what you have to do:
a. Download this file:
http://glug-nith.org/~rishi/download/fedora-updates.repo
and replace your /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo
with it. This is very similar to what had to be done to use the 'core'
repository. If you had forgotten, the file to be downloaded was:
http://glug-nith.org/~rishi/download/fedora-core.repo
b. Do:
$ su -
Password:
# yum clean all
# yum check-updates
This will give you list of updates that are available for your system. To
update your whole system you have to do:
# yum -y update
See the 'man' page for more details.
As always, please report any problems you find with the mirror.
Thanks,
Debarshi
