Microsoft just got fined 1.5e9 dollars (yes, 1.5 billion with a
"b") for patent violations with respect to playing mp3's under
ms-windows.
s/playing/conversion/
Playing a MP3 does not infringe on the patent.
My question is, how will this effect free/open formats like
ogg-vorbis?
Only possible effect it can have is a positive, people will wake up to
the fact that software patents are completely absurd.
