Are music files supposed to reside in one main folder, without having any subfolders?

I am having a problem where I modify to config file to point to where my music resides, my music collection currently resides off of a main folder from which several subfolders branch off. Each of these subfolders may be categories of music, or albums.

Im running a Windows 2003 server with Activestate 5.08 installed.

I modified the path in the config files and I am able to see the whole directory structure amd music files with gnump3, but when I try to play, all I get is a blank browser window.

If I place a bunch of .mp3 files of off the root of a folder any folder and adjust the config files to match this, It works fine.

So my question is, do I have to have all of my .mp3 files off of one folder and can't have them organized within subfolders?
