I use gnump3d to listen to music while at work. While I'm listening there may be a "bad" MP3. Currently the only way I can clean those out is to write down the song names and delete them when I get home. I could also open up a seperate ssh connection to my Linux box and delete them. This is a bunch of extra steps that I'd rather not have to do.

Perhaps we can update the DB to include a field for "marked for deletion" and then I could run a cleanup program that would go and delete the files marked for deletion. That way, the interface doesn't have the ability to modify my filesystem and security is not decreased. Assuming only root or another trusted user has execute access to that cleanup script.

To set the "marked for deletion" filed would just need a check box next to the song names.

Is there someone who's up for the challenge? I'm just a lowly user not a developer ;-)

I've been using gnump3d for a year or more now. I have a rather large
collection of MP3's most of which I have not even listened to yet. As I
listen it would be great to be able to delete an MP3 directly from the
user interface. Some sort of check box/radio button next to the selection
  would be great.

For this to be possible one major change would be necessary

The user you were running the server as would need *write*
   access to the archive.

The just strikes me as being bad on too many levels. If you were
willing to risk it the code would be very simple though, you'd only
need to copy the 'info.pm' plugin and change it to do "rm" instead
of looking up information on the given file.

As you suggest adding links in the theme file(s) would be required
to give an interface to it - but that is fiarly simple if you were
to add links to the configuration file instead.

Would something like this help others using gnump3d? If someone can
contribute a theme that does that I would really appreciate it.

I'm not sure how useful it would be, but I'd be interesting in hearing
thoughts.

I suspect more people would care about being able to *upload* songs
than about deleting existing ones - although I guess the ideal would
be to do both. (Along with renaming, etc).
