Got it working...though it may not be a secure solution.  I changed user = 
nobody to user  = root in /etc/gnump3d/gnump3d.conf and started it in
debug mode.  How can I start this with user = nobody?

  There is one error which should be fixed.  Either reinstall,
 or otherwise install the theme file which it is complaining about.

  Or try a different theme ..
