Aha, so they _are_ related to the footers/page numbers.  That was one of
my guesses, but my noviceness in roff doesn't permit me to make claims.

Hmmm.

In which file would the problem lie then?  In the mdoc subdirectory
files?  [Sorry for being a bit ignorant, I have only recently started to
learn how 'roff works on the inside, instead of just using the macro's.]

Oh yes, heh, that's a FreeBSD specific mdoc macro.

.Fx 4.0 . in the example would render:

FreeBSD 4.0.

I think you could dub it the .Os like macro which can be used
everywhere.

We, as being the FreeBSD project, as well as NetBSD and OpenBSD use the
mdoc package extensively.

I will see if I can pick out some more common ones and interesting ones
and submit them to you guys.
