Ted suggested a better solution to me yesterday; use

        \S'degrees'

where degrees is the number you want the output to be slanted by
(usually 12, to match most fonts). \S'0' turns it back to normal.

This really works, and is far better than fiddling with font
installation. It's documented in the ditroff technical manual (report no
54), along with the handy \H font stretching routine.

So, as usual, massive thanks go to Ted.

 Stewart

(who intends to send out all internal computing memos with \S'75' set so
that they are illegible lest they fall into enemy hands...)
