I hadn't considered that, so at the moment this will not work
(actually, something really terrible happens now).  But I'm
sure what you want can be achieved with some trickery.
I'll try something along the lines of formatting both date and
company into separate diversions, and then printing those
diversions at the beginning of the description macro.

That is a good idea, and should not be a problem as long as
the macro sets don't try to solve the same problems and get
in each other's way.  (And of course, they shouldn't mess up
each other's internal registers, so some care should be taken
in naming macros and registers.  I usually use my own macros,
so I normally know which names are already taken and which
ones are free.)
