Наистина ползвам gnustep-back0.12-art, но това одеве беше резултат под
GNOME в режим 1024x768.  Зарязах GNOME и пуснах Window Maker.
Резултатът вече е различен – няма fatal error, показват се менюто и
рамката на Emacs, но само като чисто черни правоъгълници на екрана
(менюто понякога започва като чисто бял правоъгълник, а по-късно става
чисто черен).  Emacs реагира, например мога да изляза от него чрез C-x
C-c, но в рамката си не визуализира нищо освен плътен черен мрак.

Сесията изглежда така:
