This inaugural (to the mailing list) message describes where
IXIN is currently, and lays out the near-future plans.
Current status: Works w/ Guile 1.8. For Guile 2.x, there is a
commit in the repo by Ricardo Wurmus to add entity-substitution
support in c/a1-nf3-guile2. Light testing shows some weirdness
w/ the Guile 2.x builtin SXML modules: The output of attributes
is strangely ordered wrt the input. Sometimes, the order is
preserved, sometimes reversed, sometimes completely scrambled.
We can work around the weirdness heuristically, but that's a
long-term lose. Better to fix things in Guile 2.x.
Near (1-2 months) future: Someoneā¢ needs to:
(0) describe IXIN scope better per feedback from Adam Spiers;
(1) resolve the attribute ordering weirdness:
(a) file a bug report against Guile 2.x SXML handling;
(b) follow through on its characterization and resolution;
(c) propose a "decent kludge" for IXIN;
(d) make it so;
(2) decide if (1c) and (1d) have sufficient merit to include
in the next release -- (when MERITOUS BLOCK);
(3) release IXIN 1.9.
In the meantime, i encourage everyone to happily hack on IXIN
(in particular, the Emacs Lisp renderer), send / post feedback
(constructive or not :-D), and play w/ the IXIN support in GNU
Texinfo. Latest hint:
