------------------ Additional Follow-up Comments ----------------------------
Since this post a number of applications have been upgraded but I'm unable to
locate the date of this post. If you could find the original post date I'll get
you a list of versions during that post.
I can't reproduce the error with my current versions of kportage/portage/kde.
The versions:
Portage 2.0.48-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.2, glibc-2.3.1-r4)
Qt: 3.1.2
KDE: 3.1.2
KPortage: 0.6.1
Using my emerge.log I created a package history. With that you can allocate the
version of the software I was using when I posted this bug. The file is
attached.
Keep me updated :)

Summary: Starting without terminal
Original Submission: Hello,
If I start KPortage using the run command in the kde menu, I can't merge any
packages. For so far I really like the program and I hope an upcoming version
can help me solve this problem.
Merging packages does work when I start it using a terminal.
In the example I used e2fsprogs, but I get the same error with every application
The errors I get:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
