First, I'd like to point out that we are accomplishing things.  I
always learn new things and other people do too, including people
who are not super knowledgable about free software often get some
really great knowledge.  And, there aren't any other specifically
free software meetups, and I don't go to any other meetups, and I
find socializing when I otherwise never talk to anyone irl who
cares about free software to be a great help in my own motivation
and connection to the free sofware movement.

I've been trying to get activists to come to this meetup for a while and all I keep hearing is, "oh but I'm not technical." I tell them it's an activist meetup--I would hate to try bringing in serious activists only to drive them away with any kind of coding, etc.

I agree hackathon would not be inclusive. I could imagine doing
something like collaboratively editing a document or learning
about some free software, but I also don't like splitting things
into 2/3 people who can share a laptop screen (changing venues
and having a projector could fix that), and I'm on my computer
all day, I'd rather not spent much time focusing on driving a
computer.

For January, why don't we set some goals, like maybe for an agenda and whatever else we can think of. I'm not sure if AJ wants to manage this or what but there's only one way to move forward and that's to be more organized and to do activism some sort.

Having some topics lined up for discussion seems like a good
start to me.
