W00t! After this patch, I installed the new automake HEAD (1.9a), and ran it in top_srcdir with `reconfdirs=. ./bootstrap`. Then from a VPATH build directory left over from the tests before that commit, I ran `make dist`... the Makefiles regenerated themselves using automake-1.9a for the main tree, and automake-1.8c for the test dirs, and continued on to generate a working dist :-D
Cool!
To more 50 minute bootstraps required.
Does this mean that potential libtool maintainers must provide evidence of a substantial bank account, have a substantial line of credit, or prove that they own a super-computer, prior to being approved as a maintainer? It seems that without at least a 3.6 GHz CPU you are sunk! :-)
