I have a few git branches where I meddled with different approaches. The
problem is that engravers are implemented with such a fragile combination
of C++ classes and the C preprocessor that, indeed, getting to work any
inheritance scheme is going to be much more complex than it looks like. I
am abandoning this project for now; it might make more sense resuming once
I moved the engraver infrastructure to Goops.
I retain ownership of this issue for now for the sake of bookkeeping, but I
won't be putting any work in it without changing Status to "Started" again.
