again from the German forum (DLF):

the actual design of fret diagrams requires to enter the absolute number of  
a fret even when there's a capo - it would be more natural to count from  
the capo position, so for instance c major would be written as:

    <c g c' e' g'> ^\markup {
    \fret-diagram-verbose #'(
      (capo 3)
      (mute 6)
      (place-fret 4 2)
      (place-fret 3 2)
      (place-fret 2 2)
      )
    }

it also allows easy transposing without changing the fret numbers.
