Comment #5 on issue 3792 by address@hidden: v2.19: \time change under \alternative triggers bug
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3792The two regression tests seem to have been written to test different aspects of repeats, and without considering exactly how the measures should be counted. With this change, repeat-volta.ly and repeat-unfold-all.ly should be revised.
I do not see any need to maintain the particular consistency mentioned in comment #4. (One would expect, though, that after the last alternative, the measure position comes out the same whether the music is unfolded or repeated.)
Almost always, the repeated portion (length of the \repeat plus any one \alternative except the final) will be an integral number of measures, even if the repeat begins and ends mid-measure, or if the time signature changes. If a user goes outside that convention, I do not see a way to guess the expected behavior.
So 'repeat-volta.ly' could be in 3/4, or maybe just re-written. The repeated section in 'repeat-unfold-all.ly' is 1/2 so that test would be fine in 4/4 time --- except that the whole motif is 5/4 long; adding a rests to complete a measure before the || would make it less confusing.
