Git Submodules... this? <https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-Tools-Submodules> I'm not seeing anything there about build processes.And if I understand the "conditional prerequisite" idea, it means that someone could have a system without software for doc builds such as extractpdfmark, and still run "make" with no issues about that. But if they did "make doc" it would respond with some form of "Need some more dependencies first."
