translated error messages in Version 3

At the request of a French user of Lout, Version 3 will have
internationalized error messages. If you would like Lout to
print error messages in a language other than English, and if
you are prepared to translate about 400 error messages, now is
the time to get in touch with me, so that your translation can
be distributed with Version 3. I'm not particularly asking for
people to volunteer to do this, as I asked for people to
translate the standard database entries; please only volunteer
if you really want error messages in another language yourself.

The mechanics are very simple. I send you a file that looks
like this:

        $set 1
        1 word is too long
        2 New: type %s
        3 New: zero length!
        4 assert failed in %s
        ...

and you translate it and send it back. You don't have to mess
around with C code or anything like that.

Don't volunteer for French, it's taken already.
