I'm producing a new version of Lout, and one of my
tasks is to make it easy to port to DOS. Here is my
current list of things to do in this regard:
All file names must be at most 8 characters long,
plus an optional suffix: cccccccc.ccc at most
ANSI C, including replacement of calls to link()
and unlink() by remove() and rename()
Something to customize the call to system("sort")
so that it has the right form for DOS
Absolutely no files ending in ".ld.ld"
No doubt it would help if Lout consumed less memory
as well, but I've looked into that and found that
there is no easy way. Now my questions:
(1) Is there anyone out there who has successfully
ported Lout to DOS?
(2) Does anyone know of anything apart from the above
changes that will be necessary or desirable for DOS?
(3) Is anyone willing to be a DOS test site? I don't
have access to DOS here myself, so I can't test it.
