wishes for next Lout

Hello Jeff and all Lout users!

I have some small wishes for next Lout release:

* add a @RightDisplay

* add a @CF for displaying stuff in Courier (or Code) font. (probably
defined as {Courier -1p} @Font)

* add a letter style

I believe all these are rather trivial for any Lout expert. I just
hope they will be added in the standard next Lout distribution. I
could even define them, but think it is too silly they are missing!


I have other wishes that I think is less easy to implement (this would
require C hacking):

* defining options thru command arguments, eg the command 
    lout address@hidden doc.lt
would format the document doc.lt in landscape orientation, etc.

* Lout should be runnable in a directory without write access (ie
readable, but not writable - imagine lout-ing somebody else's
document). So all Lout generated files would go elsewhere (perhaps
using a LOUT_OUTPUT_DIR environment variable or a specific argument).

* Lout should be able to read all document files (including @Include-d
ones) in a different directory. Hence, lout could be started in my
private, writable, directory and read all documents elsewhere.

* perhaps on Unix or Posix systems Lout could read a document from a
Unix pipe. This essentially means having a @Pinclude primitive,
working like @Include, except that it calls popen(3) and pclose(3)
instead of fopen(3) and fclose(3). Of course this supposes the popen(3)
interface.
